Is CeMAP still on Pearson VUE? What changed in January 2026

No — Pearson VUE delivery of CeMAP ended on 12 January 2026, and that was the last day anyone could sit a CeMAP exam at a test centre.

If you're reading older guides, forum threads or course pages that talk about finding your nearest Pearson VUE centre, arriving 30 minutes early and putting your phone in a locker, they're describing a process that no longer exists. Here's what replaced it.

What CeMAP is delivered on now

Exams are sat online through Brightspace, the virtual learning environment your study materials live in, under remote invigilation. You take the exam on your own computer, at home or wherever you're working, monitored remotely — the same exam, the same question counts, the same 70% pass mark, delivered through a different pipe.

The biggest practical change: there's nothing to book

This is the part people miss. Under Pearson VUE you chose a date and a time slot, often two or three weeks out, and that appointment existed whether you were ready or not. That's gone. Now you register, pay, and get access to your materials and assessments — usually within about 24 hours of payment — and you sit each unit whenever you decide you're ready, inside your registration period.

No slots, no waiting lists, no travel, no rescheduling fee if life gets in the way. It's genuinely more convenient. It also removes the one deadline that used to force a lot of candidates over the line, which is a real risk if you're studying around a job — see the section below.

What it costs

• £735 to register for the full qualification when you take all three modules together. That covers your learning materials and your first attempt at each unit.
• £120 per unit for a resit.
• Registration period: 18 months if you register for all three modules at once, or 12 months per module if you register for them individually.
• Fees change — check LIBF's current pricing before you pay. These are the figures at the time of writing.

What a remote-invigilated sitting involves

In broad terms: you'll be checked in before the exam starts, verify your identity on camera with photo ID, and show your room and desk to the invigilator. You'll need to be alone in a quiet room at a clear desk, with your webcam and microphone on for the duration. Calculations are done on an on-screen calculator; you can't have scrap paper, notes, a phone or a second screen. The precise requirements — supported browsers, what software you need to install, what the check-in involves — are set out in the joining instructions you receive with your access, and those are the version you should follow.

What's unchanged

• The units and their formats: FRE1 (40 marks, 60 minutes), FRE2 (40 marks, 60 minutes), MRT1 (50 marks, 60 minutes), MRT2 (40 marks, 60 minutes), and CeMAP 3 — 60 questions as six case studies of ten linked questions, 120 minutes.
• The 70% pass mark on every unit.
• The syllabus, which changed in September 2025 rather than January 2026 — two separate events people often conflate.
• Module 3's two jurisdiction variants: ASEW for England & Wales, ASSC for Scotland. You sit one. ASSM is the old code for the same module.

What to do differently

Two things. First, sort your setup before you're ready to sit, not on the day — a quiet room you can reliably have to yourself for two hours, a stable connection, a working webcam and mic. If your home genuinely can't offer that, solve it early rather than discovering the problem mid-exam. Second, replace the deadline you've lost: pick a target date per unit at the start, and use timed mock scores over 70% as your signal to go, not a feeling of readiness. Without a booked slot, the most common way to fail CeMAP now is never sitting it.
