CeMAP past papers and test papers
If you are hunting for CeMAP past papers, the honest answer is that they are not published. The LIBF does not release its live exam papers, so no legitimate source can sell you one. Anything marketed as a real past paper is either practice material written by somebody else, or a set of questions a candidate remembered afterwards — which is both unreliable and, if it really is a reproduction, not something the awarding body permits.
That sounds worse than it is. What prepares you is not a specific historic paper but a paper with the right format, the right difficulty and the real pass mark. Below is what official material does exist, how to practise so it counts, and 28 timed papers built to the current exam structure.
What official CeMAP material actually exists
- Specimen exams (paid)
- The LIBF sells additional specimen exams — £25 per unit or £40 per module — written in the exam's own style and format. They were never live exams, but they are the closest thing to an official standard, and they are the material the awarding body stands behind.
- One free practice exam per unit, with registration
- Registering for CeMAP includes one free Practice Exam for each unit — five in total, not one. They come with registration rather than from a public download page, so if you have registered, sit them: they cost nothing extra.
- Third-party mocks (this site included)
- Everything else — ours and everyone else's — is written by third parties to match the syllabus. Judge it on whether the format, timing and pass mark match the real assessment, and whether every answer is explained. That is why FRE1 Paper 1 here is free in full rather than a teaser: you should check the quality before paying.
How to use practice papers so they actually work
1Sit the first one cold
Do not revise for your first paper. A diagnostic you score 45% on tells you exactly which topics need work; one you score 80% on after cramming tells you almost nothing.
2Time it from the second paper on
Pacing fails more candidates than knowledge does — MRT1 gives you 50 questions in 60 minutes. Practising untimed builds a habit you cannot use in the exam.
3Work the explanations, not the score
The mark is the least useful output. Read the explanation on every question you got wrong and every one you guessed correctly — the second group is where the nasty surprises hide.
4Finish on a harder paper
Papers run easier → harder within each unit deliberately. Clearing 70% on a Harder paper is a far better readiness signal than clearing it on the entry paper.

CeMAP past papers — common questions
Are there official CeMAP past papers?
No. The LIBF does not release its live CeMAP exam papers, so genuine past papers are not available from any legitimate source. What it does publish is specimen papers — written in the exam's style and format, but never sat by a candidate. Anything advertised as a real 'CeMAP past paper' is either third-party practice material or someone's recollection of questions they saw.
What is the difference between a past paper and a specimen paper?
A past paper is a real exam that candidates sat, released afterwards. A specimen paper is written by the awarding body to demonstrate the format and standard, but was never a live exam. For CeMAP, only specimen papers exist. In practice the distinction matters less than people assume: what you need is the right format, the right difficulty and the real pass mark, and a well-built mock gives you all three.
Are these real CeMAP exam questions?
No, and we would not publish them if we had them. Every question here is written from the 2025/26 syllabus to match the style, difficulty and mark allocation of the live assessments. They are pitched slightly harder than the real thing, so a pass here should be a comfortable pass in the exam.
Can I get free CeMAP test papers?

How many practice papers should I sit before the exam?
At least two timed papers per unit. Treat the first as a diagnostic rather than a test — its job is to find the topics you cannot yet explain, not to produce a score you feel good about. Papers here run easier → harder within each unit, so finishing on a Harder paper above 70% is a reasonable signal you are ready to book.
Do these cover the 2025/26 syllabus changes?
Yes. CeMAP restructured in September 2025 into FRE1, FRE2, MRT1, MRT2 and a synoptic assessment coded ASEW in England and Wales or ASSC in Scotland. Every paper here is written to that structure, and the questions carry current figures rather than the ones in older revision material.
Still called CeMAP 1, 2 and 3?
Plenty of candidates and employers still use the old module names. CeMAP 1 is now FRE1 and FRE2, CeMAP 2 is now MRT1 and MRT2, and CeMAP 3 is now the ASEW/ASSC synoptic assessment. The papers are the same either way — those pages just group them under the names you may have been given.
